Smithfield is really two business suburbs. South of Prospect Creek there are homes and a main street on The Horsley Drive; north of it, factories and warehouses with no houses at all. Both sides have grown since 2021, and both need websites that win work from people who have never driven past.

Smithfield's figures join two ABS areas: the almost uninhabited Smithfield Industrial area and the residential Smithfield and Wetherill Park area. Together they held 2,750 businesses at June 2025, up 18.9% since 2021. The residential side is trade country, with 438 construction businesses and 281 in transport, postal and warehousing. The industrial side is smaller but heavier: 941 businesses led by manufacturing (162) and wholesale trade (154), and 287 of them turn over $2 million or more. Across both, just over half employ nobody. The website a renovator needs is not the one a fabricator needs.

Where business happens

Either side of Prospect Creek

Prospect Creek is the line that matters here. It runs through Smithfield and forms the boundary between Fairfield City and Cumberland councils, and the industrial precinct on its northern side has no housing at all. Victoria Street is lined with factories, and the Cumberland Highway (Smithfield Road) is the main arterial route, carrying heavy traffic through the suburb. Smithfield has no station of its own; the closest are Fairfield and Yennora.

Shops and services sit along The Horsley Drive, the road that links Smithfield with the Fairfield City Centre, and Smithfield Square stands just west of its intersection with Smithfield Road. Change is planned nearby. Fairfield City Council has exhibited a planning proposal that would allow a hotel and high-density housing on the Smithfield RSL site beside Smithfield Road, where the club's Chisholm Place masterplan shows a 168-room hotel and up to 436 apartments.

What Smithfield trades and suppliers need online

Construction is the biggest single industry in Smithfield's combined figures, so most sites here are built around one job: getting a usable quote request in.

Proof a homeowner can check

Your contractor licence number, insurance and trade memberships, shown near the top, plus a gallery of finished jobs sorted by type. A homeowner comparing three Smithfield tilers or concreters is more likely to call the one whose work and paperwork they can see without asking.

Quote forms that save a drive

Ask for photos, rough measurements and the suburb up front, so you can price a job before driving out to see it. The quote-first site we built for Western Sydney solar installer Tolo Electrical works the same way, with upfront pricing and buyer guides that answer questions before the call.

A separate door for trade buyers

Manufacturers and wholesalers north of the creek sell to buyers who want specifications, minimum orders, lead times and certifications. We give them their own section and an enquiry form that asks the right questions, so a procurement officer can shortlist you without picking up the phone.

Smithfield's languages, and two councils

The 2021 Census put the share of Smithfield residents using only English at home at about 31%, roughly double the share in Fairfield next door. Arabic (15.3%), Assyrian Neo-Aramaic (10.5%) and Vietnamese (9.6%) were the most common other languages. For a builder quoting kitchens or driveways here, one clear page in Arabic, worded by you or a translator you trust, explaining how your quoting works can earn more trust than another stock photo.

Smithfield also sits under two councils, so check which one handles your approvals and business programs before relying on a generic guide. The links below cover both. If you're starting from scratch, our page on small business websites shows how we keep a first site lean.

Local support worth knowing

Which council supports your business depends on which side of Prospect Creek you're on.

Good to know

Smithfield web design questions, answered

Is Smithfield in Fairfield City or Cumberland council?
Both. Prospect Creek runs through Smithfield and forms the boundary, with the industrial precinct north of the creek in Cumberland and the homes and main street to the south in Fairfield City. For your website, the suburb name is what customers search, so say Smithfield clearly and keep your address identical on your site and your Google Business Profile. The council split matters more for approvals and business support.
Do manufacturers in Smithfield's industrial area need a different kind of website?
Usually, yes. In the ABS Smithfield Industrial area, manufacturing and wholesale lead the count, and 287 of 941 businesses turned over $2 million or more at June 2025. Their buyers need capability pages, product ranges, certifications and a detailed enquiry form rather than the short quote form that suits a home renovator. Some wholesalers also benefit from a trade catalogue or online ordering.
How quickly can a Smithfield tradie get a website live?
If you need to start winning jobs soon, our Launch package (from $1,500 inc. GST) gets about three pages live in around a week: your services, recent work and a quote form. Grow, from $3,500, takes about two weeks and adds room for separate pages per service. You get a fixed quote before we start, and the full breakdown is on our packages and pricing page.
Can you come out to a Smithfield workshop or job site?
Yes, when it helps. We're based in Macarthur, so meeting at your workshop or yard in Smithfield is easy to arrange, on either side of Prospect Creek. Real photos of your fleet, factory floor and finished jobs build more trust than stock images, and we'll tell you which shots to take. In between, you follow progress on a private preview link and we talk decisions through on video calls, which suits owners who are on the tools until late.
